Well, we discussed it, and we are pushing through until Saturday. So all said and done, we did a 5 day cleanse. And as I stated, the caffeine has been the hardest part. Don't get me wrong, I am truly looking forward to that beer on Sat. night, but there certainly have not been these pesky withdrawal symptoms from the alcohol....which is a good thing:) Brett sums up our decision in his last post, so feel free to read a little more.
Day 4 went just like the others. Great food, good exercise, and lots of yawning by the end of the day. What I have learned from this is that when I have to dial it back a little b/c of too many nights out at restaurants or too many cookies, I will do exactly what we have done this week-but with coffee and tea. I think that would be a great week!
But for anyone who is following along to see what a balanced diet looks like, here is what was on the menu today.
Breakfast: (6:45)
*Same scrambled eggs as the past 3 days
*Slice of "The Baker" whole grain flax bread...very similar to the fitness bread but w/ flax w/ 1tbl of almond butter and 1/2 mashed banana
*Decaf soy latte made w/ the unsweetened soy
Snack: (10am)
*1/2 banana
Lunch: (1pm)
*Same salad as the past few days..I really like the salsa on the salad!
Big flavor calorie saver!
*Slice of The Baker bread w/ 1/4 mashed avocado & you guessed it, salsa!
Snack: (2:30)
*Grapefruit
Snack: (4:15)
*Handful of cashews
Snack: (6:30)
*Sugar snap peas
*4 cucumber slices dipped in hummus
Dinner: (7:50)
*Turkey burger made on the panini grill(no bun)
*Sliced roasted sweet potatoes seasoned w/ salt and rosemary, and drizzled w/ olive oil. (The equivalent of half a sweet potato)
*Side salad dressed in salsa..just can't get enough
Desert: (8:20)
*Could it be another grapefruit?...yep
*Ginger tea
And that sums up the day.(Although, there is a chance I may end up w/ a spoonful of almond butter..in the effort of full disclosure..)
Exercise today was strength work and a 3 mile run
Okay, I will post our last "Cleanse" blog tomorrow night..but, I have a feeling there will be a lot more blogging in the future.
Thanks to everyone who has checked up on us during our little adventure!
