The Anti-Cleanse: Day 2
I guess I should further clarify my post titles. This is in fact a cleanse. The reason I refer to it as the Anti-Cleanse is 1) My contrary, rebellious nature, and 2) To take back the term "cleanse" from the abyss of misuse it currently resides. Remember, everyone's body, when allowed to, cleanses naturally on a daily basis. The purpose of our experiment is to monitor any changes in feeling/performance/energy when we take the roadblocks out of the way and let our bodies function unimpeded. So, breakfast on day 2:
5:15AM 1 whole wheat muffin. 2 table spoons of peanut butter with a nice drizzle of honey, 1 8oz. glass of O.J., and a hard boiled egg to work that will be consumed a bit later. Hopefully Joli will remember to bring in a cup of decaf for me. God I hope.

10:30AM-Snacktime 2 slices of roasted turkey and 2 slices of asiago cheese. No, not terribly exciting, but my energy and clarity were both elevated within minutes.
1PM-Lunchtime: A repeat of breakfast in many ways. 1 whole wheat muffin with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter and some honey. Water, lots of water. Once again, I went to reach for a couple of different foods and products which I thought would be "sugar" free, and sure enough, buried in the ingredients was added sugar. Avoiding added/processed/refined sugars is tricky stuff. The American body must be so incredibly dependent on sugars at this point. I would imagine an evolutionary process of of sorts has taken place whereby generation upon generation consumes more and more sugar thereby altering how our bodies function or process sugar. It's everywhere!
4:45PM Enter Joli with a small decaf latte. The headache was much duller today, and not nearly as distracting or debilitating as it was yesterday. The steamed milk in the latte was a bit of a pick me up.
7:30PM Dinner-Joli whipped up an insane dinner of red snapper, couscous, red peppers, onions, garlic, olive oil and a parmesan crust. I followed this treat with another treat of apple sauce and cinnamon. Day 2 saw greater mental clarity, less effect from caffeine deprivation, and better energy overall.
