My Detox/Cleansing Challenge

With every passing week, Hollywood and the 24 hour media culture introduce us to yet another "miracle cleanse". In a nut shell, a majority of these cleanses have you abstain from eating solid foods for approximately 3-7 days. I find it truly depressing when people deprive their bodies of the essential fuels we all need to get through each day. Our bodies are designed to break down food and absorb the proper nutrients while at the same time flushing out the "toxins". When we stop eating, we compromise the natural function of our digestive system. I always say to my clients, "if you have the will power to drink nothing but cayenne lemon water for 7 days, then you should also have the will power to eat healthy meals for a week!"

I am now going to put my money where my mouth is. Starting on April 13th, I am going to document what I believe to be a healthy cleanse. For 7 days, I will abstain from alcohol, sweets, and caffeine. Each night, I will recap my meals from throughout the day, including drinks and snacks.  I will be incorporating all the essential food groups to show that when combined properly, your body naturally takes care of itself. Follow along(or even participate if you'd like!), while I set out to prove why healthy eating, not fasting, is the answer to feeling great.
